            "@value": "นายแพทย์ แดน บีช บรัดเลย์ หรือที่ชาวสยามเรียกว่า \"หมอปลัดเล\" เป็นแพทย์ชาวอเมริกันผู้บุกเบิกการแพทย์แผนใหม่และการพิมพ์ในประเทศไทยในช่วงรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระนั่งเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวและพระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ท่านอุทิศตนให้กับการรักษาพยาบาลผู้ป่วยโดยไม่คิดมูลค่า พร้อมทั้งสร้างคุณูปการครั้งประวัติศาสตร์ เช่น การผ่าตัดแผนใหม่ครั้งแรก การฉีดวัคซีนป้องกันโรคไข้ทรพิษ และการให้ความรู้ด้านสุขอนามัยแก่สตรี นอกจากนี้ หมอบรัดเลย์ยังเป็น ผู้ประดิษฐ์ตัวพิมพ์อักษรไทย และริเริ่มกิจการหนังสือพิมพ์รวมถึงการจัดพิมพ์เอกสารสำคัญต่างๆ จนเป็นรากฐานสำคัญทางประวัติศาสตร์ไทย แม้จะต้องเผชิญกับอุปสรรคและความสูญเสียในชีวิตส่วนตัวหลายครั้ง แต่ท่านก็ยังคงมุ่งมั่นทำประโยชน์ให้แก่สังคมสยามอย่างต่อเนื่องจนกระทั่งวาระสุดท้ายของชีวิต"
